ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - AVON MANOR

Avon Manor is part of the Cobham Care Group whose first home, Avon House, was one of the first care homes in the area to specialise in dementia Care. Avon Manor is a detached Victorian mansion situated in a pleasant and quiet residential area with adjacent parking and easy access to public transport. It is also only a short walk to Worthing town centre and the seafront. The Cobham Care philosophy is that every resident is an individual - individuals’ needs change and therefore need to be continually addressed. In order to achieve this at Avon Manor, information about a resident’s life and loved ones is gathered from relatives soon after admission. This allows our carers to better understand the individual and treat them with a greater degree of sensitivity and understanding. We pride ourselves on the friendly, caring and homely atmosphere we provide. Where our residents are encouraged to lead an active, dignified and independent life. Lisa Moulding is the Registered Manager and has worked at Avon Manor since the mid-1990s. She is qualified to NVQ Level 4, has attained the Registered Managers Award (RMA) and has extensive experience in dementia care. We also employ 28 care staff with a range of NVQ qualifications. Our staff are selected for their kindness, patience and their ability to care for people with dementia. All staff are provided with training in first aid, manual handling, understanding dementia, safeguarding vulnerable adults and other relevant subjects. Our careful selection process and ongoing training and assessment is a comfort to relatives who, understandably, are very worried about entrusting loved ones to the care of others. It also ensures that our residents are receiving the highest level of care. 28 residents are accommodated in single rooms across three floors - many of which have en-suite facilities. (There is a three person lift that is capable of taking a wheelchair and a care assistant comfortably from floor to floor) Whilst every room is fully furnished, we are pleased to accommodate any personal belongings a resident may wish to bring. All of our living areas are comfortably furnished, especially the three ground floor lounges - one of which is specifically for those seeking peace and quiet. We also have a pleasant dining room where residents generally like to eat. However, they may take their meals in a room of their choosing if they wish. Please feel free to contact us at Avon Manor and our Registered Manager, Lisa, would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. She would also like to invite you to look around Avon Manor at any time to see for yourself what the home has to offer.
