I have recommended Sailaway to friends
Approx 2004 my mother moved to Sailaway and 6 months later my father joined her. Subsequently my aunt stayed for several months after being at deaths door for months in hospital. She improved so much at Sailaway that she was able to return to her own home. Both of my in laws have had respite care and I have recommended Sailaway to friends, one of whom is still a resident. The owner is a very caring, hard working lady who works from the heart and is very hands on. My husband is a social worker and he is very supportive of the home.

The highest standard of care
I had been the sole carer for my 96 year old father until May when he went to Sailaway Rest Home after a months hospital stay because of falls and health issues. I was no longer able to care for him due to my own ill health and was very concerned because my father had never been away from his family home. However since being at Sailaway he is smiling and happy again plus he has regained his appetite. Nothing is too much trouble for the caring staff who are constantly cheerful and provide the highest standard of care. The home is very clean and well organised but also has a homely feeling. Individual preferences are respected with choices about food or activities etc. I cannot speak highly enough about Sailaway.

Personalised care
The care home have been very good at providing personalised care specific to the unique needs of the resident. Always respectful to the resident. Welcoming to family and friends and communication with me as next of kin has been good.

More like a small hotel than a care home
Nice environment, more like a small hotel rather than a care home. All of the staff are very nice and caring.

A family run home
Sailaway is a family run home with very caring staff. I cannot find fault with it at all. The staff are wonderful and my husband is very happy there. The rooms are clean and tidy, the food is good and at regular times. There are activities every day.

Friendly, homely atmosphere
Friendly, homely atmosphere with cheerful, understanding carers and owner. Home cooking with plenty of choice. My husband enjoys the time he spends there, one day per week plus one one week every two months respite care, although he would prefer to stay at home. Flexible about day and times if necessary.

Always welcoming
I call in at different times and different days and all the staff are always welcoming. It never smells, only sometimes of lovely food. Mum is always ready if I have to take her out. They have parties, Christmas etc, where family can go and it is good chatting to other families with someone in a care home.

Considerate and flexible
You get more than you pay for. Staff take great pains to keep residents comfortable and make extra effort to fit around particular circumstances. They appear to prefer being busy so my relative never had to wait for assistance unless everyone was engaged helping other people.

Loving care
My husband comes to Sailaway for respite care. We have been delighted with the loving care he always received, nothing is too much trouble and it is very friendly. There are several care homes in our area but I cannot fault Sailaway for its caring attitude, also the food is very good. I will be happy to go there myself when the time comes.

Dominoes, cards, singing and dancing
I did not realise all the things Mum could do in a care home, playing dominoes, cards, singing and dancing with her frame. Their is a choice of meals and every time there is a birthday, Christmas or Mothers Day, Sailaway Residential Care Home give a party inviting families.
