ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - BARRINGTON LODGE CARE HOME
Barrington Lodge Care Home is located on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland, County Durham. It provides nursing and residential care and can accommodate up to 70 people. Barrington Lodge is a Pearl accredited care home where we have recently been given a silver award following validation. Our care home consists of two units, there is a 38 bed unit for people with dementia and a 32 bed unit for people with general care needs. Our Dementia care unit has 2 lounges with TV's, music centres and are nicely decorated. All bedrooms are en suite and some have magnificent views of scenery. We have a bar and a kitchen which residents and families are assisted and encouraged to use. We have seperate modern bathrooms and shower rooms with some specialist baths for those people who have problems with mobility. We have a modern dining room and tray service is available to all residents who wish to eat in their own rooms. We have 2 lifts to enable access between floors. Our Ground floor general unit has 32 beds which are all en suite. We have two modern lounges and two modern dining rooms which are used by residents, families and friends. We also have specialist baths and walk in showers which allow access for wheelchairs. All of our food is home cooked and to a high standard. Meals are planned according to residents likes and dislikes and there are extensive choices available daily. We cater for all special diets and drinks and home made snacks are available between meals and throughout the day and night. We have visits fron the local parishes and communion is available for those wishing to access it. We have large grounds with car parking area and disabled access. Our grounds are well maintained with seating area's and a conservatory within the main garden. Our rear garden is soon to be professionally landscaped to become a sensory garden where people suffering with dementia will be able to enjoy the different sights sounds and smells to help aid orientation.
