ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - WESTON HOUSE RESIDENTIAL HOME
Weston House is one of Springcare’s residential homes and is situated near the centre of the small market town of Whitchurch, Shropshire. The home is a large three storey building which dates back to Georgian times.
Weston House Residential Care Home offers accommodation to both private and social services funded residents.
The individual resident is at the centre of our service provision. Group living, yes, but not group caring. Everyone is an individual and each residents detailed care plan reflects that.
There is a homely atmosphere at Weston house and residents are reminded that this is their home. If someone wants a lie in with breakfast in bed, why not? If someone wishes to stay up and watch a late film, why not? There are no set visiting hours in the home visitors are welcome at any time.
Regular family & friends meetings take place along with regular residents meetings. Both meetings produce good ideas and are a platform for people to air views.
Weston house has a resident’s representative who visits each resident each day to discuss any matters they may have.
An activities co-ordinator is employed at Weston house and many of our residents enjoy outings in the mini bus, playing indoor bowls, board games, receiving the P.A.T (Pets as Therapy) dogs and entertainment to name just a few.
The residents who live at Weston house enjoy continuing links with the community attending coffee mornings, visiting the local hairdresser and enjoying a drink at one of the public houses.
Staff training is fundamental in ensuring residents receive a quality service and developing skills or learning new skills are actively encouraged. All care staff complete the Skills for Care induction standards at the beginning of their employment this is then followed by completion of the diploma in heath and social care (which replaced the NVQ) Opportunities to further develop are supported by the manager.
