ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - WESTLEIGH HOUSE

At Westleigh House we provide a supportive environment for twelve individuals with a learning disability and physical disabilities, who may also have mental health needs. The service is on the edge of Taunton, a ten minute walk from the town centre. We have two vehicles, one with a wheelchair lift.

We aim to support everyone to live a fulfilled, happy and healthy life and take pride in their achievements. Our dedicated, professional staff team strive to empower each individual to develop their personal and daily living skills, while ensuring their physical and mental health needs are met. Each person is encouraged to share their views through regular meetings, using whichever method of communication they choose.


We have good relationships with our neighbours and the wider community, often taking part in local events. Individuals are encouraged to participate in varied activities. Westleigh House is close to the coast, and we regularly enjoy visits to the beach and attractions.

There are a number of communal rooms in Westleigh House, including two lounges and two dining rooms. The spacious shared areas give everyone the option of spending time alone or socialising with others, as they wish. Westleigh House has a mature, spacious landscaped garden with a large decking area. The garden is easily accessible for wheelchair users.

There is a fully fitted, accessible kitchen where the people we support are encouraged to prepare their own meals and snacks. The laundry room is also accessible. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities. The service is adapted to be accessible to wheelchair users, with a passenger lift, hoists and a specialist bath.
