ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - THORNBANK
Thornbank is owned and operated by Greensleeves Homes Trust, a ‘not for profit’ charitable organisation providing care and accommodation for older people.
Our aim is to offer high quality care, in a safe and friendly environment, which respects our residents’ rights, dignity and privacy, and provides the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.
The home is located in the leafy green Westerfield Road, conveniently located for Ipswich town centre and opposite the beautiful Christchurch Park. Thornbank provides a warm and inviting ‘home from home’ for 31 older ladies and gentlemen.
On duty 24 hours a day, our dedicated multi-disciplined team, provides high quality care to meet individual resident’s requirements. The majority of the team have been working at Thornbank for many years, delivering the highest standards of care in a warm, safe environment. Our staff work hard to ensure a friendly, homely atmosphere.
Thornbank offers 27 spacious single, and two double bedrooms, the majority of which are en suite, and each tastefully furnished and decorated. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items such as pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture.
A regular programme of activities is organised with fun and engaging pursuits provided daily including trips out to local places of interest using the home’s own minibus. We recognise that our residents have differing tastes and pleasures, and cater for each and every one as an individual. All food is freshly prepared to ensure dining is a real occasion, residents regularly update the menu with requests and ideas. A choice of delicious dishes is always available with all special dietary requirements catered for.
Thornbank follows the Eden Alternative philosophy in the care of older people. All our residents’ views, choices and preferences contribute to the daily running of their home. Regular residents meetings ensure that all the wishes of the residents are met.
