ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - THE GRANARY
The Granary provides support to twelve people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and other complex needs.
The Granary is set in a picturesque village with local shops and facilities within walking distance. People are encouraged and supported to use public transport where possible, to build independence, although the service does have two vehicles.
We encourage everyone to be as independent as possible and to exercise choice in matters relating to their daily lives. This is done through regular house meetings as well as more informally.
The varied activities we currently enjoy include boules, water sports and walks in the surrounding countryside. Many of the woodland local walks are accessible for wheelchair users. We make use of local shops, pubs, clubs and social events. One lady has joined the darts team. Educational opportunities are available near by.
The Granary is made up of two six bedroom buildings, the Main House and Brandes Lodge. Both are fully accessible to wheelchair users and have been carefully designed to meet the varied needs of the poeple who live here and maximise their privacy and dignity. The service has a large walled garden which people are invited to help maintain to help improve their daily living skills.
