ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - SUPPORTED HOUSING SERVICE
Supported Housing encourages independent living through a combination of accommodation with on-site support, including personal care. It offers adults with a disability an alternative to moving into a care home. Moving into Supported Housing is like that of a house move not a move into care, and tenants are encouraged to furnish their rooms to their own tastes.
The Supported Housing service works in partnership with other Council services such as respite/short break and day services,external agencies, Housing Associations (who own and maintain the homes) and service user groups to provide the care and support you need.
We will support you to:
Have your own bedroom.
Have your own house keys.
Speak up for yourself or have the use of an advocate, to speak on your behalf.
Manage your income, support with shopping, paying bills and household chores.
Access social and leisure activities as well as helping to arrange holidays for you.
Have friends and relatives to visit or stay where appropriate.
Be involved in the decision making in the house.
Be self medicating wherever possible.
Choose your decoration and furnishings - it’s your choice!
Make comments, compliments and complaints - we want to know how you feel!
Consult with management through house meetings and discussion with staff.
Access personal support such as toilet facilities, washing, bathing and showering.
We will provide support up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
