ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - SUNNYSIDE RESPITE SERVICE
Sunnyside Respite and Nursing Centre is made up of a residential service where we support 11 people and a four place respite service. All the people we support have an identified nursing need and we can support individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, dual diagnosis and complex health needs.
We have a good reputation for tailoring the support we provide to each individual’s needs, ensuring that the service fits around them and not the other way round. We seek positive experiences for everyone we support and aim to provide a stimulating and positive environment where people can maintain their skills and develop new ones.
In terms of our respite service, we pride ourselves on being family orientated, working closely with relatives to make sure we mirror routines and rituals from home, therefore ensuring a smooth transition between the service and home. The respite service provides ground floor accommodation and all areas are easily accessible to wheelchair users, with specialist equipment available. Each bedroom is spacious, allowing guests to bring any extra equipment they may need for their stay, and has en-suite facilities.
The residential service is also wheelchair accessible and has eight bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities and specialist equipment, as needed. There are also three independent living flats which can be customised to meet individuals’ needs. These give people the opportunity build their daily living skills and independence.
There is a large activity room and an adapted kitchen where everyone can take part in daily living activities. The service has a large garden with patio areas, seating and a sensory garden. The sensory garden provides a unique space full of colour, noise and smells which everyone at the service can enjoy. People can also grow their own flowers, vegetables and fruits and are actively involved in maintaining the garden.
