Straven House enjoys a wonderful location in a quiet residential area of Ilkley. This well established home for elderly people enjoys panoramic views across the picturesque Ilkley Moors.
The care we offer
We provide residential, convalescence, palliative care and respite. We also provide a pop in and day care service. Our dedicated members of staff provide excellent 24-hour care and support in a professional and respectful manner.
Food
Shortly after a resident arrives at Straven House, we will discuss their food needs and preferences in detail. We will then cater for all of their individual requirements. Appetising meals are freshly prepared, nutritionally checked, and cooked using only fresh ingredients. A tasty, varied and seasonal menu is provided each day, and it always includes a choice of hot or cold meal. Residents can eat with other residents in the elegant dining room overlooking the gardens, on the patio in warm weather, or in their own bedroom, if they prefer.
Activities
Our dedicated activity co-ordinator ensures that there is always something enjoyable for residents to do each day, bearing in mind their interests and levels of mobility. Residents enjoy social events such as sherry mornings and performances by visiting musicians and singers. We often arrange outings to local places of interest, such as the Pavilion Tea Rooms, the local garden centre or the theatre. The home also has strong links with the local community and Straven House has developed close involvement with the Greenies – a children’s gardening club for seven to eleven-year-olds.
Gardens
Straven House is surrounded by lovely landscaped grounds which offer magnificent views over the valley and the Ilkley Moors. The gardens have wheelchair accessible paths and a furnished patio area where residents can sit on warmer days.
There is also a sensory garden, a vegetable patch and a herb garden. Blossom trees and hanging flower baskets create a very pretty outdoor environment.
