ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST MARK'S NURSING HOME
This modern, purpose-built home in a quiet residential area between Stockton and Eaglescliffe provides nursing dementia care for elderly residents.
The care we offer
St Mark's specialises in dementia care. A range of stays are available including long-term, nursing and palliative care to shorter stay convalescence and respite. Our nurses and dedicated carers are all trained to Bupa's high standards and are experienced in looking after older people, including those with dementia-related conditions.
Food
Residents can choose to eat in one of the home's two attractive dining rooms or in their own bedroom if they prefer. Menus are varied and prepared using fresh ingredients, including herbs and vegetables from our very own kitchen garden. Residents' individual preferences are assessed shortly after arrival and incorporated into the daily menus. The odd tipple is also offered to celebrate special occasions!
We make sure that on their birthdays each resident receives a celebratory meal of their choice and a personalised birthday cake to make their day extra special.
Activities
Variety and enjoyment is key for physical and mental stimulation, so St Mark's dedicated activity co-ordinator ensures things to do that reflect residents' interests and abilities. There is indoor bowling, skittles and gentle exercise sessions as well as visits from local singers and musicians. Outings are also arranged, such as shopping in Stockton or a gentle stroll in the local park. Occasions such as Burn's Night and Mother's Day are marked with special social events and there is an annual summer fete, which is particularly popular.
