ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST JOSEPH'S CONVENT NURSING HOME
We are a charity status Nursing Home owned by the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny, for the elderly who have various complex nursing needs. We accept clients of all religious denominations either self funding or local authority funded. We also offer palliative care and are used by our local hospice and community Macmillan team to care for clients in their expected last 12 weeks of life.
Our aim is provide our residents with a fulfilling quality of life, respecting their dignity, civil rights, independence, privacy, choices and preferences in a homely atmosphere.
We ensure that all our residents enjoy an exceptionally high standard of care during their time at the Home and provide a varied social calendar for all to enjoy which is open to relatives of the residents to join in if they so choose.
The realisation of the majority of our clients, that they require the support of 24 hour nursing care and are no longer able to cope within the surroundings that have been their home for many years may be the hardest and most distressing decision that they have ever faced. In addition, it is one that materialises at an age when any form of change is far more difficult to adjust to. Every endeavour is made to assist with this delicate and often traumatic transition.
Our ultimate aim is that every resident will look on St Joseph's and in particular his or her own accomodation as home.
We have 41 single rooms, 13 en suite, all with a hand wash basin, 4 assisted bathrooms and 4 assisted showers and 12 WC's. Residents are allowed to bring in some of their own furniture if they wish.The Home is spread over 3 floors with a lift facility.
Our peaceful chapel has a regular service of daily mass to which residents and friends are welcome to attend, regardless of religious denomination.
