ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST CLAIRES
St Claires is a residential care home for ten people who have experienced long term mental health problems. The aim at St Claires is to empower residents to manage their mental health, to develop independent living skills and to become integrated back into the local community.
The amount of support provided is dependent upon the needs of each individual, but can include help with personal care, support to attend GP appointments and meetings with other professionals, the administration of medication, emotional support and support to develop daily living skills. All our residents are treated with the upmost dignity and respect and we are dedicated to providing top quality care tailored to the needs of each individual resident.
As St Claires is a long-term home we aim to create as homely an environment as possible. Residents are able to come and go whenever they like and are encouraged to be as independent as possible. We aim to provide opportunities for each individual, including encouraging residents to use community resources and to develop and maintain friendships and contact with families. Family members and friends are always welcome to visit. Residents are also encouraged to visit family members, including staying with them overnight if they wish.
Participation is a key focus at St Claires and residents are involved in every aspect of the daily running of the home including planning the weekly menu, helping to prepare the evening meal, washing the dishes, setting the table and doing laundry. Residents are also encouraged to make decisions about where they would like to go on day trips and group holidays. There are house meetings every month between staff and residents which follow an agenda set by the residents where any issues and recommendations for changes are discussed. Residents are also encouraged to participate in the recruitment of new staff.
