ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST ANNE'S COMMUNITY SERVICES - SUTHERLAND COURT
Sutherland court is a seven bedded residential home providing 24 hour care for people with learning disabilities. We are situated in a popular residential area of Lightcliffe, Halifax. The building is a bungalow and we have overhead tracking in some communal areas and bedrooms, a bath hoist, and shower room which allows us to provide care for those with mobility problems.
The manager is a qualified RNMH and has achieved the registered manager’s award and is a qualified assessor for the health and social care diploma. Nine out of the thirteen support staff have level 3 NVQ in social care. Another staff member is currently working on achieving this award. Staff support clients with daily living tasks, social and leisure interests, maintenance of health and personal care as required.
All clients are consulted on their support needs and wishes via the person centred planning and review process (Clients families are invited and their input welcomed. Clients are encouraged to be involved in all aspects of their care and are encouraged to make decisions and choices where ever possible, i.e. holidays, clothing, food and décor. Staff also support clients in a range of leisure activities which are identified with the client some examples are swimming, local pubs, cinemas, theatre trips, snoozeln and football. We also support clients on holidays to various places.
