ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST ANNE'S COMMUNITY SERVICES - NEWHAVEN


Newhaven is a detached  bungalow with 5 single rooms that  provides care and support to 5 adults of either sex who have moderate to severe learning disabilities and complex needs. It is situated in the market town of Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire. There is a shared lounge/dining room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms (with specialised bath) and also caters for people who may need support with mobility needs. There is a large private garden

The staff team consists of a manager, deputy and 11 whole time equivalent support staff including waking nights. The manager has the Registered Managers Award, an NVQ 4 Care and is a qualified NVQ assessor and Internal Verifier. The deputy and 6 of the current support staff have an NVQ  Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Promoting Independence. All staff have a Level 2 certificate in the Safe Handling of Medicines as well as regular completing  training courses in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Moving and Handling, First Aid, Fire prevention and evacuation, and Safeguarding Adults. Staff voluntarily complete extra certificated and non-certificated training relevant to their role.

Staff support each client individually according to their assessed needs with daily living tasks, social and leisure interests, and the maintenance of their health and personal care.

All clients and those within their support circle are consulted on their support needs and wishes via the person centred planning and review process. Clients are supported whenever possible to make decisions in all aspects of their lives, including activities, holidays, clothes, menu planning, decoration and choice of furniture within the home etc.

Clients are supported whenever possible to access activities of their choice within the local community. Staff also support clients to pursue existing or develop new hobbies and interests, maintain/promote friendships and family relationships, to use community facilities such as shops, libraries, sport centres, pubs and clubs etc.
