Silver Birch is a traditional, detached home refurbished to a high standard in a pleasant residential area of Erdington; approximately 4 miles from the city centre. Erdington provides a good range of facilities to meet the recreational, social and religious needs of the community. It is conveniently situated near the M6 and M42 and has good access to public transport.
The accommodation has been designed to enable easy access for people who have a range of disabilities including sensory impairments and makes good use of colour and texture contrasts in décor, furnishings, tactile symbols and lighting. The building is fully accessible to people with restricted mobility or who use a wheelchair.
The home is a three-storey building with access to all floors via a lift. The accommodation comprises seven large single bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. Each bedroom is fitted with an alarm call system. The home has a fully assisted bathroom area on the ground floor, plus two communal W/C"s and a separate laundry room.
A spacious lounge and separate conservatory dining room afford the residents spacious communal facilities and private areas to entertain visitors. In addition, the kitchen has been adapted to cater for wheel chair users and is fully equipped with a variety of specialist aids and adaptations to enable the resident group to fully participate in meal/drink preparation.
The accommodation is fully furnished and provides a homely environment. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings and possessions and choose decor to personalise their room. There is a cordless phone available for residents to use, in their own room if they wish.
