ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - SHAW SIDE RESIDENTIAL AND NURSING HOME
This purpose-built home is light and spacious, with a careful design and specific equipment to meet the individual needs of its residents. It comprises five separate houses, each with its own facilities and character. This includes a specialist dementia nursing unit, recently opened in December 2011.
The care we offer
This purpose-built home is light and spacious, with a careful design and specific equipment to meet the individual needs of its residents. It comprises five separate houses, each with its own facilities and character, yet sharing a warm, homely atmosphere.
Food
Shortly after every resident arrives at the home, their food needs and preferences are discussed in detail and our experienced chef will then cater for their individual requirements. Appetising meals are freshly prepared, nutritionally checked, and cooked using only fresh ingredients. A tasty, varied and seasonal menu is offered each day, with a hot or cold option available. Residents can choose to eat in the sociable dining rooms or in their own bedroom, if they prefer.
Activities
Our residents have different interests and levels of ability, and our dedicated activity co-ordinator takes this into account when arranging interesting things to do each day. Regular pastimes include gardening, painting and drawing, reminiscence sessions, bingo and quizzes.
We also organise outings, such as a visit to Knowsley Safari Park or a garden centre, a canal boat trip, or a seasonal visit to see Blackpool’s famous illuminations. Each month a seasonally themed event takes place, much to the residents’ enjoyment – these have recently included a garden fete and Mother’s Day celebrations. Friends any family are always most welcome to join in the fun.
