ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ROOKERY COTTAGE
At Rookery Cottage we provide care and support to six individuals with a learning disability.
The service is located on the outskirts of Reading. The town centre, which has many opportunities for educational and leisure activities, is easily reached by public transport or using the service’s vehicle. We can also provide transport for visits to service users’ family homes.
Service users are encouraged to lead active lives and make the most of the local facilities. We support individuals to participate in a range of activities, tailored to their interests and wishes.
The high level of staffing at Rookery Cottage allows the service users to become involved in the daily running of the service. Staff support everyone to take an active role in preparing meals.
Rookery Cottage is furnished and decorated to a high standard to create a warm and inviting environment. There are spacious shared areas, giving service users the choice of socialising or spending time alone. These include a large lounge/dining room, where many of the varied activities provided within the service take place.
The service is surrounded by a large well-maintained garden, which provides secluded areas for relaxation as well as the opportunity to participate in outdoor games and activities.
