ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - RIVERSIDE HOUSE
Riverside House is situated in Broadoak just off the A48 within walking distance of the picturesque village of Newnham on Severn. Newnham village contains many local amenities including a shop, pharmacy, post office and two pubs; service users are encouraged to make full use of the amenities the village has to offer.
Riverside provides a homely environment for up to twelve service users, the ethos of the home is one of inclusion and active support ensuring service users are encouraged in all aspects of their daily lives to have an input in the running of the home. Service users within the home have varying degrees of learning disabilities; they may also have mental health problems, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.
The home is tastefully decorated throughout and service users are supported by their key workers and families to choose colour schemes and furnishings for their rooms that suit their tastes and reflect their personalities. There are three bathrooms in the home two of which have bath and shower facilities, there are also two cloakrooms. The home has two lounges, a dining room and a cinema/entertainment room. There is a garden to the rear of the home which is used frequently during the summer months for barbecues and entertaining, the home also benefits from panoramic views of the river from many of the rooms.
Service users are encouraged to lead an active social life and are involved in choosing their own leisure activities; the cinema room is at the centre of in house activities.
All service users are encouraged to keep close links with family members; each service user has a comprehensive care support plan/risk assessment devised for their specific needs.
The staff within the home receive a comprehensive training package and are supported to deliver a professional service at all times. The emphasis is on caring, commitment and empathy, respecting service user’s dignity and nurturing them to live fulfilled lives.
