ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - RHODELANDS

At Rhodelands we provide specialist support for seven people with learning disabilitie and autistic spectrum disorders, who may show behaviours that challenge.

The service is in Doveridge, a small, quiet village just ten minutes’ from Uttoxeter and within easy reach of Stoke and Derby. There is a bus stop at the end of the road and we have two service vehicles. We make use of local facilities, such as shops and the leisure centre.

We use a variety of communication methods to support each service user as an individual and the staff team are trained to support people with autism using the TEACCH approach and BILD accredited behavioural management plans.

We want everyone we support to have positive and rewarding experiences and to develop and maintain their skills. College courses available locally include art and crafts, life skills and car maintenance. We hold regular house meetings and everyone can get involved in menu planning, activity planning and interviewing new staff, if they wish.

There are seven bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities. We encourage people to bring their own belongings and decorate their rooms in the style they prefer. The communal areas include a large lounge, a dining room, a conservatory, a sensory room and an activity room. There is also a kitchen where everyone is encouraged to prepare meals and snacks. The building is surrounded by a large garden.
