ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - RED GABLES

At Red Gables we provide care and support to ten individuals with a severe learning disability and complex needs. Red Gables is a large detached house near to Burnham–on-Sea on the Somerset coast.

We encourage and support each person to pursue a variety of activities and interests, both within the service and using resources in the local community. Activities people currently enjoy include swimming, hydrotherapy, horse riding and music and art therapy. There are also opportunities to attend sessions at the local college.

The service recognises the importance of the relationships in each person's life, and we operate an open door policy, welcoming visits from family and friends at any reasonable time.

Red Gables has a range of shared areas including two lounges and a conservatory, allowing people to choose whether to spend time socialising, taking part in activities or relaxing on their own. There is also a fully equipped sensory room.

In addition to the main kitchen, the service has a specially designed training kitchen where people are encouraged to help with the preparation of meals, building daily living skills. Cookery lessons by a professional chef take place each week.

The ten well-furnished bedrooms all have en-suite facilities which can be adapted to meet individual needs. The service has a large well-maintained garden with a patio area and a barbecue.
