ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - PEEL HOUSE

Peel House is a purpose built service where we support eight individuals with a learning disability, physical disabilities and complex needs. We have experience of supporting young adults moving from child services.

The service is situated in the pretty county town of Melksham, close to the town centre and within walking distance of a GP surgery, bus stops and a leisure centre. Local facilities include a swimming pool, parks and a bowling centre.

We aim to support each person to follow the lifestyle of their choice, offering a variety of activities to give everyone as many opportunities as possible. Some people choose to visit local clubs and churches where they have made new friends. We also regularly use sports centres and the library. The local college offers independent living and personal development courses, as well as a range of part time courses for individuals to choose from. Others attend a day centre, which also offers physiotherapy. We encourage everyone to be as independent as they wish, while still giving them a choice of group activities.


Everyone is given the opportunity to take part in service meetings to discuss the things that are important to them, new purchases they would like to make and ideas for activities and holiday.

The staff team are enthusiastic and have a real pride in the service and everyone’s achievements. All staff receive specialist training, and this can be tailored to meet individuals’ needs.

The service has been designed to meet the needs of the people who live here. The service is wheelchair accessible and has features such as a specialist bathroom, height adjustable tables and hoists. Each bedroom has its own en-suite wet room. The service has a large kitchen where everyone can join in preparing meals, an activity room and a spacious back garden where people can develop their own plot, if they wish.
