ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - OLD PARK ROAD RESPITE UNIT
Old Park Road is situated on the outskirts of Thorpe Edge housing estate and gives easy access to Bradford city centre, Leeds and Shipley by bus. There are some small local shops and two supermarkets nearby.
The service provides short breaks for adults with learning disabilities and can accommodate up to six people at one time. Downstairs comprises of the lounge, kitchen, dining room, laundry, bedroom and cloakroom with toilet. There are also five bedrooms upstairs.
There is a grassed area to the front of the house while at the back there is a paved area where users can sit and enjoy the garden.
Indoor activities include arts and crafts, bingo, dominoes, quizzes, theme nights, Wii, baking and festival celebrations. Service users are supported by staff to use public transport to visit places of interest; locally there is a park, cafes, pubs and shops within walking distance, while a little further away is the beautiful countryside of Apperley Bridge and Idle village.
Everyone has their own person centred plan to ensure that they get the most out of their stay, for example working towards gaining increased independence and using local community leisure resources. There is a wide range of different things to do in and around Old Park Road.
