ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - OAKHURST NURSING HOME
Oakhurst provides comprehensive care and support for adults with mental health problems. The range of services on offer creates an empowering and motivating environment where we enable people to become more independent.
Oakhurst offers support for up to 26 adults - both male and female, between the ages of 18 and 65. We place the individual at the heart of everything we do, and support people to maintain choice and control over their lives and priorities.
We provide person-centred, evidence-based mental health care, delivered by experienced mental health nurses and support staff. This is complimented by a multi-disciplinary team of GPs, Psychiatrists, Case Managers, Social Workers and Psychologists.
Our staff are experienced, highly trained and motivated to meet the needs of the individuals staying with us.
Our care team is available 24 hours a day; totally driven by the needs, abilities and aspirations of the people staying with us.
Our Activities Co-ordinator organises dominoes, chess, crosswords, discussion groups, painting, trips to the cinema, meals out and visits to places of interest. We also have a Nintendo Wii, a weekly film evening, and religious hour on a Sunday.
The home has various amenities in the locality including; sports centres, cinemas, ten pin bowling, museums, walking groups, Lister Park, Peel Park, shopping malls, local football and rugby stadiums.
Meal times are an important part of the day. Our experienced catering staff prepares a menu of home-cooked food every day, and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
