Nightingale Hammerson is an independent charity which has been serving the Jewish community for over 170 years. Nightingale House is based in south west London and we provide care for approximately 180 residents.
Nightingale House prides itself on providing high quality holistic care in a safe and stimulating environment. We provide residential, nursing and dementia care for both permanent and respite residents with a range of needs, from supported independence to full nursing and palliative care.
Our home provides a ‘home for life’ and we care for residents from the moment they arrive and for the rest of their lives, no matter how much their physical or mental health may deteriorate. Our extensive activities programme and Activities Centre gives each day a purpose, a chance to maintain hobbies or learn new ones. Nightingale House has invested significantly in developing its care teams in order to understand and apply the true definition of person centred care. Beyond this, we follow a regular programme of measuring how we are doing to ensure our person centred philosophy is followed by all and makes the difference to our residents and their families and friends.
In terms of caring for older Jewish people, we provide a Kosher menu, Shabbat services, pastoral and spiritual support, celebrations of Jewish festivals and exploration of cultural customs through activity and engagement. Residents’ visitors are welcome in their room, on the unit or in any of our communal areas including the Garden Café.
