ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - HOMELESS ACTION RESOURCE PROJECT 36 GENESTA ROAD
Homeless Action Resource Project - 36 Genesta Road provides accommodation and support for up to a maximum of eight people people who have been through the criminal justice system, who are receiving treatment for substance misuse and find themselves homeless.
The service provides a three stage programme. At Stages one & two the purpose of the pre-detox/rehabilitation accommodation service is to support individuals towards freedom from dependence on substances of misuse. The service is intended for individuals who have been clinically assessed as being likely to benefit from accessing detox and/or rehab and whose recovery will be enhanced by the stable accommodation that the HARP can offer them. Therefore, access to the accommodation at the HARP Restart projects will be dependent upon referral via the current Southend treatment providers CRi Gateway, CDAS and/or YPDAT once the Access Point Co-ordinator has confirmed the individual has a local connection entitling them to accommodation in Southend.
The structured programme gives people daily support, access to employment, training and volunteer opportunities and ensures regular contact with drug services to help people get back on their feet.
At Stage three the service provides a supportive environment in which individuals can prepare for independent living following a successful detox/rehabilitation stay. Both the lead treatment provider (CRi, CDAS or YPDAT) and HARP liaise with the detox/rehabilitation provider during the person's stay to monitor progress and to anticipate the person's exit.
The service does not provide nursing care.
