ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - HARWICH HOUSE


Harwich House is a nine-bedroom property on a quiet, tree-lined residential road in the seaside town of Littlehampton, West Sussex.

The home supports both men and women with a learning disability, including those with mobility difficulties, sensory needs, sight impairment, autism, complex epilepsy and some that present with complex needs. Currently, the youngest service user is in their early 20s and the oldest is nearly 60.

People living at Harwich need varied, individual support for communication. Tools and methods used include gesture, signing, objects of reference, pictures symbols, photographs and personalised communication passports.

Harwich House benefits from a large communal lounge and dining area with a hatch to the galley kitchen. The lounge has patio doors accessing the wheelchair-friendly garden. Throughout the summer months time spent in the garden is maximised. There is a sensory cabin, trampoline, raised beds containing sensory plants, paved and lawned areas.

All bedrooms have an en suite bathroom or wet room with toilet and washbasin.

The home is a five-minute walk to Littlehampton sea front and is close to the town centre which offers shops, pubs, restaurants cinema and cafes. The Windmill theatre is popular and the harbour front Look and See Centre provide panoramic views.

Harwich House also benefits from the resources and facilities of the larger, nearby towns of Chichester and Worthing.

Transport is provided by two vehicles belonging to the home although there is a bus stop close by and a train station within walking distance.
