ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - GORTON PARKS NURSING AND RESIDENTIAL HOME
Conveniently located in the centre of Manchester, this pleasant purpose-built home has recently completed a substantial refurbishment and upgrade programme.
The care we offer
Gorton Parks comprises four houses providing nursing care, residential and nursing dementia care, convalescence, palliative care and respite, as well as specialist care for older people with physical disabilities.
The home has recently completed 'Six steps to success' - a national end of life care programme.
Food
All tastes and dietary requirements are catered for at Gorton Parks. Residents enjoy three delicious, nutritious meals a day, as well as tea and coffee, and perhaps a small tipple in the evening. Mealtimes are always a sociable occasion, and the traditional dining rooms enjoy views over the delightful garden. Residents are welcome to dine in the privacy of their own rooms if they prefer.
We work with our activity co-ordinator to ensure that special occasions, birthdays and celebrations are never forgotten. These include our Mothers’ Day lunch for example. For residents’ birthdays, the chef is always on hand to bake a delicious cake, much to everyone’s delight.
Activities
There's never a dull moment at Gorton Parks, and its closeness to the city gives it a special link to the community. Choose from daily activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes, games or a spot of gentle gardening. Many residents enjoy the experience of doll and pet therapy, including visits to a local donkey sanctuary sponsored by the home.
Where possible we arrange days out - perhaps for a day by the beach at Blackpool, or a visit to Wigan Pier. Gorton Parks' link with the local Chinese community means it also regularly supports local cultural events. Friends and family are always most welcome to come and join in any of the activities or trips. Or simply pop in and join us for lunch.
