ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - GARSWOOD
Built at the turn of the century and extended in the 1970s GARSWOOD is a beautiful house with spacious but secluded gardens situated in Birkdale, a popular and quiet suburb of Southport.
GARSWOOD has 34 rooms and is registered with CQC to take up to 37 residents who may require up to high levels of residential care, including dementia, permanent, respite, holiday and day care.
Hazelwood is part of the building which has specialised care facility providing extra care for 7 residents. Staff working in this facility are fully trained in dealing with the needs of residents, including those living with dementia. Residents are encouraged to use their abilities and to follow their interests and staff focus on responding to individual preferences and needs.
The Manager and his staff are dedicated to person centred care and to helping make a stay at Garswood a happy and loving experience during which the residents feel at home. Residents are placed at the heart of everything that happens at Garswood and their views and opinions are always taken into account.
The premises are well maintained, a lift serves all floors and all rooms have ensuite facilities.
GARSWOOD encourages residents to remain independent and active. A regular programme of activities is arranged which residents are invited to join in according to their own preferences.

There is a frequent bus service into Southport. Situated about a mile from the Home, Birkdale village has a good variety of shops, banks, post office, cafes and a railway station.
The Southport Christadelphian Ecclesial Hall is a mile-and-a-half away and transport is arranged for those wishing to attend Sunday services. The Southport Christadelphian Bible Class is held in GARSWOOD on Wednesday evenings and Bible Readings are arranged at the Home every week day evening.
