ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - FIELDWAY NURSING AND RESIDENTIAL CENTRE
Situated near Mitcham town centre in north Surrey, with convenient transport links and close to London, Fieldway is a pleasant, purpose-built home for older people.
The care we offer
Fieldway can accommodate up to 68 residents and offers long and short stay care for the frail elderly and for those with dementia. This includes residential and nursing care, convalescence, palliative care and respite.
The home has an outstanding reputation for its palliative/end of life care and the support it gives not only its residents but their families too.
Food
Residents can choose to eat in the home's light and airy dining rooms, or in their own rooms if they prefer. All menus are nutritionally balanced and prepared each day using fresh, seasonal produce - in fact residents here are about to start a 'grow your own' project, the results of which the chef will hope to use in their menu!
Every resident has their personal preferences and special requirements assessed soon after their arrival and our chef takes these into account when planning the seasonally-based menus.
The kitchen at Fieldway has been awarded a five-star local authority rating for its cleanliness - the highest achievement possible.
Activities
An activity is anything that brings comfort, stimulation, pleasure or a sense of wellbeing to residents. The activity co-ordinator at Fieldway, helped occasionally by outside volunteers, offers a range of activities for residents to enjoy. Reminiscence therapy, sing-a-longs, quizzes and bingo are regular favourites and entertainers also visit to perform.
With good links in the community, residents are treated to a carol concert from local school children at Christmas and the home is popular for older students to gain experience via work placements. Some residents like to attend local church lunches while for others a trip to the nearest pub is a preferred option.
