ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - DURNSFORD LODGE RESIDENTIAL HOME
Durnsford Lodge was built at the turn of the century and has been carefully adapted and extended to provide a high standard of accommodation and facilities for all our residents. It is a friendly comfortable home situated within easy walking distance of the varied facilities in Stoke Village.
Care is provided by friendly, qualified and competent staff to ensure our residents are well cared and provided for.
All of our staff are trained to or working towards level 2, and are encouraged to develop their skills further to ensure they respect privacy, dignity and independence of the Residents in line with the Care Quality Commissions essential standards of care.
The Home offers two comfortable and sunny sitting rooms which overlook the gardens, together with a separate quiet area .Bedrooms are all individually decorated and furnished and residents are encouraged to personalise their own rooms. Some rooms have far reaching views of Plymouth Sound. All bedrooms and bathrooms/toilets have call alarms fitted for assistance when required or in cases of emergency. The upper floors are easily reached by either a lift or chair lifts.
There are south facing gardens and a raised terrace area and on sunny days, residents and visitors can sit outside and enjoy the well stocked gardens.
All meals are freshly prepared by our experienced cooks using locally sourced produce, Special dietary requirements are also catered for.
We welcome short and long term stays, respite and day care. Potential Residents are welcome to visit the Home and spend a few hours with us before reaching a decision to join us.
We have regular visiting entertainers who provide entertainment which includes shows, activities and keep fit. When the weather is good, we have BBQ’s and we also have a summer fete and garden parties (weather permitting). We have a visiting weekly hairdresser and regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist and optician who also provides hearing tests.
