ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - CYPRESS ROAD
Cypress Road is a four bedroom short break scheme for guests who are 18 years of age and above, located in the Normanton with access to excellent public transport links and within walking distance of the town centre.
Wakefield County Council funds the service with The Wilf Ward Family Trust contracted to provide short breaks for the Wakefield area within their building
The service works with the Wakefield NHS/Clinical Commissioning Group and has access to the local District Nurses and GP. To meet further health requirements we will access specialist treatment once the need has been identified, e.g. speech therapy, occupational therapy or physiotherapy.
Complex Needs and behaviours- Currently there is no one in the service who requires physical interventions, but due to the nature of the service there may be a service users complex needs and behaviours. All staff attend the Wilf ward family trust 3 day therapeutic approach and physical intervention training. Staff are trained to use the least aversive approach when supporting service users to manage their behaviours.
The service is fitted with a magnetic locking system on two doors this allows us to separate the service into to two separate safe zones.
There are four single bedrooms all with en-suite toilet/shower rooms. All the electrical sockets are at low level and are accessible to those who use a wheel chair. All of the bedrooms have tracking hoists all beds are low rise profiling beds.
All the management team and front line staff receive all mandatory training along with any other relevant learning and development required by the teams to meet the needs of the service users is sourced and delivered either internally or externally as appropriate.
All staff that are successful in being appointed have a medical clearance and a DBS check. Once in post they undertake a thorough induction that includes completing the Diploma-health and social care. Staff are also supported to work towards their NVQ in social care.
