ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - CRAEGMOOR HIGH CROSS HOUSE

High Cross House Care Home is a nine bed unit which offers a warm and homely environment with opportunities for residents to extend and enhance the quality of their day-to-day living. The residents have varying levels of learning difficulties, including Downs Syndrome and autistic spectrum disorders, and are all supported by experienced staff who ensure that their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs are met.

The home boasts a large lounge area, dining room, kitchen, utility room and a garden, offering a relaxing atmosphere and which is ideal for BBQ’s, “El fresco” dining or just sitting in the sun . The residents are encouraged to personalise their own space.

The care at High Cross House is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of staff committed to providing quality care focused on the needs of the residents. Residents have an individual care package, specifically planned to reflect their personal needs and choices. A key worker is assigned to each resident ensuring a holistic approach to individual care and daily fulfilment. We work closely with local services such as the Community Learning Disability Team, community nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, local health centres, dental, chiropody and other health care services.

A wide range of daily activities are organised both in and out of the home, planned in conjunction with the wishes of residents. The residents enjoy swimming, Special Olympics, crafts, bowling, drama, aerobics, rambling cinema, pubs and shopping. Most residents have chosen to attend work placements and can access a range of recreational or vocational courses at the local FE colleges. High Cross uses its own transport for visits to local places of interest and to go out to local day services and resource centres.  Holidays are arranged annually in the UK or abroad.
