ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - CALVERN CARE LIMITED

Calvern Care is a domiciliary care service providing personal care to people in their own homes.Calvern Care Ltd was established in 2001 by Vernon & Carol Martin and is an independent, family owned and managed company serving Chelmsford and the surrounding areas. 

Our aim at Calvern Care is to deliver a service of the highest quality that will achieve required outcomes and ensure that relevant standards are met and therefore will improve and sustain our service users’ overall quality of life. Quality, reliability, flexibility and professionalism are integral to our working practices.

 The services we provide are as follows:

 Personal care

Assistance with dressing/undressing.
Washing, showering/bathing.
Assistance with mobility and transfers, including getting into and out of bed.
Management of urinary and bowel functions.
Promotion of continence and management of incontinence.                                                                                        
Preparation of light meals and hot drinks.
Assistance with feeding, eating and drinking
End of life care
Being available throughout the night or during a sitting service to assist with personal care.
Medication support and prompting service
Re-ablement- support/helping people to return to independent living for example following an illness.


 Social Care

Companionship, we regard listening and talking to people as an important part of delivering care.
Telecare – Assistance and advice on assistive technology via our approved Telecare assessors’ (e.g. Call pendant alarm).
Shopping.
Collection of pension.
Laundry and ironing.
Cleaning and housework.
A sitting service which can incorporate visiting people at home to assist with  recreational activities for example novelty games, reminiscence therapy and memory stimulation, internet access and games consoles, quiz games such as crosswords, reinforcing reality orientation programmes, facilitating communication (writing/interaction/dealing with correspondence).
Accompany service users to and from social appointments which could include visiting family, friends, work colleagues or attend special events such as a party, lunch clubs, local group meetings, etc.
Accompany service users on trips to the local shops, garden centres, cinema, internet café, hairdresser, and recreational or educational activities such as sports, gym, swimming, bowls etc.
Accompany service users to and from appointments in connection with their health for example Dentist, GP, Clinic appointments with the Nurse, Hospital, Chiropodist, Physiotherapist etc.


We can provide home care services for the following groups of older people:

People discharged from hospital.
People with physical disabilities.
People with learning disabilities.
People with sensory impairment.
People with mental health needs.


We also offer the following services for people with Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease:

Establishing a routine for people with familiar carers visiting
Assisting with reality orientation programmes and reminiscence
Helping people to maintain the skills they currently have.
