"We wanted to put in writing how much it has meant to us, the way you have cared for D during the six weeks she spent with you all at Balgowan. She was nursed and cared for with dignity, respect, kindness and compassion. Her room was always beautifully clean and she enjoyed looking out of her window. It was a shame she lost her appetite and couldn't enjoy all the delicious meals on offer, nor fully participate in all the activities that were available. D enjoyed seeing her family right to the end, she loved us all and we loved her. Everyone was kind and supportive, especially during her last two days when we sat with her. lt was just the right balance of allowing us to have the time with D, undisturbed; with making sure she was comfortable and checking on how we were. We will be forever grateful that by accepting D into the Balgowan family
she was granted her wish of not dying alone. We were able to hold her hands as she slipped away so peacefully. We understand it is Carer's Week next week and we hope you will all feel appreciated for the work that you do on a daily basis, with such cheerfulness."
