ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - NEW HORIZONS
New Horizons supports three people with autism and other needs and is able to positively support complex individuals.
The home has a strong focus on supporting people to access the community and pursue their interests and goals through the varied structured day opportunities available through our internal activities programme.
The individuals supported at New Horizons are in their late twenties and are very active and particularly enjoy physical pursuits such as walking, assault courses and swimming. Go Karts are often used in the garden. Their other interests include drama, music, including playing instruments, watching action movies, fishing and photography.
The home has a large lounge, a dining room and a kitchen with breakfast bar. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor and the third bedroom is upstairs. The home has two bathrooms, one on each floor.
The large gardens to the front and back on the home also offer a great space for people to enjoy the outdoors.
The staff at New Horizons embrace good autistic practice promoting structured days, personalised communication systems and reward charts for those who find this motivating. They are particularly skilled in positively redirecting people into their specific interests and passions.
The team are trained to support people with a range of needs including autism, epilepsy, anxiety and emotional support needs. They support people to build their confidence and self esteem by encouraging continued development and independence skills.
New Horizons is located in a residential area in the Village of Hedge End, close to local amenities and near to the extensive countryside walks available at Manor Farm Country Park which adjoins the River Hamble.
The home is only a short drive away from the M27 motorway and can easily access attractions in Southampton City, Winchester and the New Forest.
