ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - LOWER ST HELENS
Located in Hedge End, close to Southampton, Lower St Helens is a small detached four bedroom home for young adults with a learning disability and some additional needs.
Lower St Helens is a traditional house in a quiet residential area. The facilities include four bedrooms, a kitchen, lounge and dining area. The airy bright home is well located as it is within walking distance to the centre of Hedge End, which provides a number of local amenities including a bank, a supermarket, a library and a Post Office. Outside the house there is a small beautiful enclosed garden to the rear where service users spend a lot of time in the summer, including having BBQs with neighbours and gardening.
The light and airy home is currently occupied by young ladies who are very sociable and have an active lifestyle, including visits to the cinema and local pubs, eating out, bowling, bingo, going to the zoo, visits to theme parks and going to the theatre.
They also have holidays and regular outings. In addition, a daily activities plan is available to everyone, which includes attending collect, arts and crafts, walking, swimming and more.
The home has a very hands-on approach and everyone participates in the running of their home. A weekly meeting takes place to discuss plans for the coming week and to review the week that has passed. All service users actively take part in household activities, including washing, cleaning and cooking.
