Review of Kiln Lodge Care Home Fareham
Rosemary and her team are a credit to their profession. They are always kind and helpful and keep me up to date with mum's health and any changes of medication. When mum had a bad spell recently they did all they could to help her and I am so glad that we chose Kiln Lodge for her. It gives me peace of mind to know she is there, being looked after so well.

A very caring care home
I found Kiln Lodge to be an excellent care home, the management and staff knew the residents well and cared for their every need. The food was well prepared and served in the dining room. Residents who were bed ridden had meals in their rooms with staff in attendance. The home was kept clean as were the residents, bathed and clothes were always clean. An excellent care home where nothing was too much trouble.

Happy, caring home
When searching for suitable care for my mother I had already visited 10 local residential homes before I visited Kiln Lodge. As I walked into the home I was immediately struck by the caring nature of the manager who explained very clearly what the routine was and asked many questions about mum. Kiln Lodge is full of natural light and suitable furniture but the most important thing is it is full of staff that care, really care. The same staff have been at Kiln Lodge all the time mum has been there and they all seem to care about everyone. Mum has been at Kiln Lodge for nearly 2 years now and although I visited regularly I have never heard staff raise their voice in anger or frustration. The staff work very hard all the time but always find time to stop and pay attention to any resident who looks in need of a few extra minutes of their time. The staff not only look after my mother extremely well but they also have had time to give me a few minutes of comfort when life has got a little overwhelming.

Sunny, welcoming premises, superb food, outstanding staff
Mum was at Kiln Lodge for just over 7 years until her death this week. From the moment we entered this home we were treated with kindness, not just mum but also us, her family. From the sunny, welcoming premises, to the superb food to the outstanding staff, I have not been able to fault this outstanding home, ans I am so thankful that when it was time for mum to need full time professional care, Kiln Lodge had a vacancy. The staff became her full time family when we could no longer care for her ourselves. They got to know what she liked, they treated her as an individual and it was obvious that they cared deeply for her. I have been singing Kiln Lodge's praises to anyone who would listen throughout the last 7 years and will continue to recommend their care for your relative without hesitation.

A very caring provider
The staff and management provide good care with sensitivity and awareness of client needs. They maintain good communication with clients relatives and show good awareness and management of each clients relatives needs and abilities. Patients and relatives receive sympathy and understanding. The food is excellent and all effort is put into residents room to make them feel as if they are in their own homes.

Specsavers healthcall domiciliary provider
I am the customer service director for Specsavers Healthcall. I have to say this is one of my favorite care homes. The staff are always friendly and caring and they have a lovely way with each resident. They engage them and talk with them, not at them. The feeling in the home is one of family and warmth. I have to contact family members with regards to their relatives int he home and I have yet to hear a negative response to Kiln Lodge. I wish all the homes I visited had the same feeling and attitude towards it's residents.

Kiln Lodge Fareham
I had cared for my mother for a number of years and was initially reticent about the prospect of her going into a home. I viewed many prospective homes and was impressed by Kiln Lodge because of it's standard of cleanliness and decoration, my mother would have a nice bedroom with en-suite toilet which was an important requirement at the time, and it was available and affordable. The manager Rosemary seemed kind and attentive. Once settled in my mother was given plenty of good food and tea, her favourite. Although busy the staff were always on hand to help her and over time she built up a very good relationship with them. She had always liked animals and as well as the interaction with the smaller animals sometimes brought in she was taken by the staff on visits to Marwell Zoo and to see horses. She also enjoyed joining in singing along with the weekly entertainer, who helped us to choose her favourite song to sing along to for the funeral. As her health deteriorated, although not a nursing home, the staff were able to cope with the increasing demands put upon them. As a family we were supported with care and respect during her last days which were in the home.

To all the lovely staff at Kiln Lodge
To all the lovely staff at Kiln Lodge, you know that mere words can never convey the depth of gratitude that we feel toward you. It was the luckiest day for us when we found you. Your love and care to Mum was immeasurable and quite obviously more than just a job to you all. You made her final months and in particular her final weeks comfortable, pain free, happy and full of laughter and singing. Thank you so much, you are all wonderful, never forget that.

To all the girls who cared for Mum
To all the girls who cared for Mum, we appreciate all that you have done. We had times with you all that filled us with laughter. We will treasure those times and the memories throughout. The care and a shoulder was there, that's no doubt. You became part of our family and that is how it will always be.

Friendly and caring
I have visited this care home for business on a few occasions. I have always received a warm, friendly welcome. The home seems to put the care of the residents at the heart of everything they do. Nothing is ever a problem and all staff are happy to help. Residents are spoken to with respect and included in activities or conversations. The home is well looked after and clean, always smells nice and fresh. It is always a pleasure to visit this home and I would recommend this care home.

A welcoming and friendly care home environment
Kind and compassionate staff always welcoming and keen to help. Passionate about her residents, the manager strives for best resident outcome, putting advanced care planning in place in a timely manner. Low care staff turnover who demonstrate sympathy and understanding of residents with dementia.

Review by specialist palliative care nurse.
I have been working closely with the staff at Kiln Lodge while caring for a patient at the end of their life. I have found the staff professional, caring, willing to find ways to optimize their care for their patient/resident. The manager and senior carer met with myself, the patient and the relative, to discuss care options. They always acted on recommendations, and are very good at liaising . While I was visiting the home it felt like nothing would be too much trouble for the staff. The home feels happy, clean, friendly, it always feels like the staff are with the residents, they were sitting chatting with them at times, which I feel is most important.

Care
I have been working alongside the manager Rose and staff of Kiln Lodge for several years as a professional. The home is run by a very competent caring dedicated and professional manager who instils these values in her staff. The residents are cared for in a compassionate and dignified way they are respected and treated as individuals. The staffs always accompany us and explain to the patient who we are and why we are visiting. Kiln lodge provides a safe and homely environment they make all welcome and work very closely with the nurses who attend their residents to provide optimum care. I would just like to say if I had the need for this type of care I would have no concerns in any member of my family being a resident in this home. The manager and staff have been known to go above and beyond what is expected of them so that a resident has all their needs met.

Review from Nurse Specilaist and Education Lead
I have supported and provided guidance/advice to this home on a number of occasions. This may be in relation to a specific resident or to specific disease/ end of life care issue. I have also provided drop in sessions to see how the team are doing. At each of these events I have found the manager and staff friendly, warm and welcoming. They work hard to understand the needs of the resident, always asking appropriate and professional questions to ensure they can support that specific resident and provide individual care. They have always demonstrated great advocacy and respect for their residents in all the education and support I have provided. they appear to be a team that works well with each other with a supportive leadership.

A clean and caring home
My Mother has advanced Dementia and since entering Kiln Lodge in July 2015 I have been very happy with the care and attention she has received. It is difficult for her to communicate her wishes and we therefore rely on the team of staff to understand and take good care of her needs. I am confident that there are met in a kind, caring and respectful way at all times. The home is very clean and well run from the manager through to all her team. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this residential home to friends and family.

Exceptional care and kindness at Kiln Lodge
The decision for my Dad to go into care was a very difficult one. Mum has cancer and was undergoing another lot of treatment and Dad's level of care due to the dementia had increased. Mum sadly could not cope any more. Kiln Lodge were so welcoming, they understood what was happening. It is so homely, there is a nice feel to the place. Dad's room is a delight, spacious, clean, airy, it has everything he needs. He loved his room when he saw it, loved that he could walk around his bed with ease. The standard of cleanliness in the home is exceptional at all times, it smells lovely, it is light and well maintained. The standards are high and the staff are kind, caring and totally committed to caring for every resident, nothing is too much trouble. Dad is so happy there and we cannot thank them enough, he always says how good they are to him and how much they help.

Staff were very helpful and caring
My wife has dementia and entered Kiln Lodge in April 2014 from the start the staff were very helpful and caring. My wife was surly and antagonistic at start but the staff soon had her smiling and I was able to take her out for rides in the car. I can state with hand on my heart that Kiln Lodge staff are some of the most caring people I have come across. My wife's welfare was uppermost and she only left due to a deterioration in her mental state.

The whole team of staff is like a big family
Mum has been a resident at Kiln Lodge for 18 months now and she has been really well looked after there. She loves the home-cooked meals and very much enjoys her puds and cakes. I am always welcome to visit and I am so impressed with the whole team of staff which is like a big family and so friendly. On occasion when Mum has been unwell they don't hesitate to call nurse/doctor or ambulance as required - I have known other homes reluctant to do this. I would highly recommend this to people needing a safe, comfortable and truly caring home for a loved one.

Clean and bright room
We had to find a care home quickly for my mum, who suffers from dementia as my dad was taken unwell and as her carer, was unable to continue to look after her. After visiting several homes I knocked on the door of Kiln Lodge and was greeted by the manager who was very kind and compassionate to our needs. They had one room available which I was shown. It was clean and bright and one I myself would have been happy to stay in. After discussions with my family we decided this was the right home for mum. Two days later I moved mum in where I left her, quite happily meeting the other residents. I was extremely emotional as I had just separated two people who had shared 62 years of happy marriage. Later that afternoon I received a text message and image of my mum dancing, just letting me know that she was absolutely fine. Mum has now been in Kiln Lodge for 10 weeks and I and my family have been extremely happy with the care she is receiving from a team of people who genuinely care about her. Unfortunately my dad has now passed away but we know he will rest in the knowledge that mum will continue to be well taken care of in this happy and homely environment.

Got over my fear of low standards
When I started looking for a care home for mum I was so worried about the standard, having read some horrific accidents in the newspapers. The minute I walked into Kiln Lodge and met the manager and her lovely staff, my fears disappeared. Since mum became a resident a year ago she has been treated with kindness and dignity. She has improved immensely and I have not worried at all about leaving her as I know she is safe and cared for! As much as her dementia allows she is very happy and I would not hesitate in recommending Kiln Lodge.
