ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - COSIN LODGE
At Cosin Lodge we support four individuals with learning disabilities, autism, dementia, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, mental health needs and complex physical needs.
Staff work with medical practitioners and multi-disciplinary teams to understand individuals’ behaviours and support them to manage them, creating a calm and peaceful environment.
We aim to meet each individual’s needs while supporting them to maximise their potential and encouraging personal growth. We are proactive in encouraging participation in all areas of life. We ensure each person is able to make choices about their life and become involved in the day to day running of the service. We recognise individual religious, ethnic and social needs, in order to provide appropriate support.
The people we support have the opportunity to become involved in recruitment and staff training, if they wish, and can share any issues they may have at staff meetings. We have regular service meetings and encourage everyone to be involved in menu planning, activity planning and daily chores.
We have a good relationship with people in the local area. We make use of lots of facilities, including a resource centre, activity centre, libraries, colleges and local shops. We also take part in carnivals, festivals and theatre groups.
Cosin Lodge is a purpose built bungalow set in its own grounds and is fully adapted to meet very specific needs. The service is all on one level and is fully wheelchair accessible, with specialist equipment provided as needed. The service also has a sensory room. The service is in a quiet residential area and has good wheelchair accessible transport links to local facilities.
