Burnfield Nursing Home

"The future of care homes.
Individually is of paramount of importance.
You walk in and instantly feel welcomed. Nothing to hide or put on a performance.
Yes, every home has room for improvement and anyone that doesn't respect this, is not realistic.
What I loved about this home though, is it's individuality.
You don't hear buzzers, they have various pockets of lounges that is different from others.
These pockets offer so much more than what's seems to of become the norm. Ie institutionalist
No tvs, tvs are in each individual rooms plus there is a very large couple of rooms, where anyone that wishes, can join, in an activity as a group be it TV, radio, religious club or whatever, in these pockets, no boring day in out, same old, same old but a beautiful relaxing area of calm, respect, reflection.
Yes, no loud noises, TV or radio playing loudly, residents staring into space probably wising they were somewhere else.
Instead, calm, talking, reading or something that offers realism.
You ask, no buzzers. Yes, it's there home. Not a hospital, clinic or unit.
How do care team respond, a pager. Only the care team can hear. Why has no one thought of this before?
Burnfield is well ahead of what, care homes should be, not stuck in the past.
From electronic care plans, taking individuality actually into consideration and thriving, is the only way forward.
I'm so impressed by Burnfield, it gives me hope that our elderly will be taking good care of and respected."
