ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - ST RAPHAELS (MHA)

St Raphaels is a well-situated, attractive building inspired by the Queen Anne style of architecture and converted to become a care home. Extensions were added in the 1950s and 1980s to improve its facilities.

Nowadays, our highly trained and committed members of staff provide nursing and dementia care for up to 58 people in a way that ensures each resident feels valued and respected. We take the time and care to get to know each person, talking to them and their families about their likes and dislikes and personal backgrounds and stories.

This person-centred approach lies at the heart of MHA’s values. It means that the staff team can tailor care and day-to-day interactions to suit each individual and make every day as fulfilled as possible.

All of the rooms are single and private, and many have en suite facilities, enhancing residents’ comfort and dignity. Communal areas, including lounges, landscaped gardens and a chapel, provide space for residents to socialise and enjoy company as well as quiet spots for personal reflection.

MHA is also committed to meeting the spiritual as well as physical needs of our residents, in a great variety of ways. Residents lead the development of the activities programme to suit their individual preferences, so each person passes their time in the way that they choose. In addition, we provide alternative therapies such as reflexology and music therapy, which do much to enhance the well-being of our residents, and our Chaplain offers pastoral support to all at St Raphaels, whatever their beliefs.

In these and countless other small ways, we encourage fulfilling relationships and positive experiences, nurturing the well-being of all our residents.
