Popham Court stands in spacious gardens, just a short walk from the town centre and the varied shopping and leisure amenities of Wellington. Popham Court offers the highest standards of both nursing and residential care, either for the longer term or respite breaks.
Care is provided in separate nursing and residential facilities on the same site, meaning that as residents’ care needs become more complex they can remain in the same area rather than having to move away.
Residential care is provided at The Court, a charming grade 2 listed building with a rich history. Originally a country mansion and residence of the Fox family, it was taken over as a residential home by Somerset County Council in the 1950s. At the same time, the Fox family donated the surrounding land to the Council and this was used to create the school and park, views of which can be enjoyed throughout the home. The Court benefits from accessible and award winning gardens to the rear of the Home with pleasant walks and seating areas for residents’ to enjoy the garden and views.
Popham House was built by the Council within the grounds of The Court in 1954. It was originally a home for the blind, but is now a nursing home providing 24-hour care.
