ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - SCHOOL ROAD

School Road Respite Unit provides respite or short breaks in a homely environment for up to 7 service users, enabling carers to have a break from their role.  We have a well-trained team of staff, who have many years’ experience of working with adults with learning difficulties.  There is an emergency bed for crisis situations, where service users need an emergency stay at short notice.

Staff at the unit regularly organise trips and activities with the service users.  We have our own mini-bus to take service users out.  Recent activities have included:

Trips to Bristol Zoo, Horse World, Avon Valley Country Park, St Werburgh’s City Farm

Visits to the seaside, including Clevedon, Portishead, Weston Super Mare.

Walks at Snuff Mills, the Downs, Chew Valley Lakes, Ashton Court and parks.

Swimming and other sports

Outings to museums and city farms.

Lots of indoor games and activities.

We hold disco nights, karaoke and treasure hunts.
