ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - RYDAL CARE HOME
Our fully refurbished Nursing Home offers two separate units – our general unit offers general nursing care and palliative care to short term care, respite and rehabilitation. Our Aysgarth unit offers mental health care which predominantly involves our specialist area, dementia care. We also offer a day care service.
We have an established and experienced team of nurses, both Registered General nurses and Registered Mental nurses. Our care staff, the majority having an NVQ in Health and Social Care are highly trained and experienced at offering exemplary person centred 24 hours support and care. Our Head Chef has developed an al a carte menu and caters for all and any needs and tastes. The Catering team are highly trained and experienced offering only the finest cuisine.
We are situated in the historic market town of Darlington close to bus links, Rydal is a modern spacious home offering all single, en-suite rooms and have a vanity unit, nurse call system and thermostatic radiators. Residents are actively encouraged to personalise their own rooms, bringing with them smaller items of furniture, televisions, radios, pictures and photographs. We have our very own cinema room and sensory room as well as an indoor garden for our resident’s enjoyment. We have state of the art bathing facilities as well as a new dedicated clinical treatment room.
We use specialist techniques in orientation, reminiscence, validation and reality theory. We are also dedicated to providing one to one personalised activities and stimulation. Our grounds have been recently landscaped to make them more accessible and pleasant for residents and our resident squirrels.
We have a dedicated Personal Activities Leader who leads a weekly programme of activities and events, some in groups and other times on a one to one basis. We enjoy special evenings such as wine and cheese evenings, quizzes, pamper sessions and visits from entertainers such as singers and organists.
