ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - RNIB PEARS CENTRE FOR SPECIALIST LEARNING
RNIB Pears Centre for Specialist Learning offers individually-tailored education, care and therapies to young people with multiple disabilities and complex health needs who are blind or partially sighted, from pre-school up to the age of 19. Short breaks, respite care, outreach services and training are also available.
Additional needs we support include:
learning difficulties and disabilities
autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)
physical disabilities
communication difficulties
additional sensory impairment (deafblindness)
additional healthcare needs, such as epilepsy
high health and medical needs
additional behavioural difficulties.
Building on over 50 years' experience, RNIB Pears Centre is a stimulating, creative, supportive, purpose-built environment for children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential for learning, independence and fulfilment. Our care and education are both graded "Outstanding" by Ofsted (2013).
Our specialist service is now extended to children and young people with high health and medical needs who require long-term ventilation or who have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. As well as providing the most appropriate level of individual support, this service can help to relieve hospital and hospice places.
We can support children and young people in specially-adapted facilities for the following:
during transition periods from hospital to their home environment
long term placements
rehabilitation
respite care.
Located in a pleasant residential area in Coventry, North Warwickshire with excellent transport links (near A444, M6 J3, M1, M42 and M69 motorways, Birmingham International Airport and major rail routes) RNIB Pears Centre is easily accessible from all areas of the UK.
