The quiet lounge was blessed by an almost life-size nativity scene, crafted by the Activities Coordinator with the help of the residents.
It was here that the Head Nurse, resplendent in her strikingly appropriate red dress, played the role of Mrs Christmas by giving out carefully wrapped presents for all the residents. No one was left out and everyone was smiling.
Meanwhile, the Head Chef and her team had ensured that the residents and their families could sit down together to enjoy a full Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings.
Each table had its own holly floral display and Christmas Day menu. There were large sized crackers that could easily be pulled by elderly hands. The carers were on hand to help serve the food and also pour the wine for those who could celebrate in this way. Nothing was too much trouble."

ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - OSJCT ORCHARD HOUSE
Orchard House is a care home with nursing for up to 50 older people.
The home, located in the Cotwold village of Bishops Cleeve in Gloucestershire, is operated by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT). OSJCT is a leading charity which provides care for older people in over 70 care homes and extra care schemes.
In the report compiled following the November 2013 inspection of the home, CQC noted ‘non-compliances’ with the care home regulations. This is denoted by a red exclamation mark on their report. These non-compliances are being promptly addressed and closely monitored by the Trust to the satisfaction of CQC and we anticipate resolution in the near future.
