ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - HUISH HOUSE
In the heart of Langport sits a beautiful old house shared by 11 people. These individuals are always making every day count and will spend time either attending college or enjoying their chosen hobbies such as horse-riding, swimming, bike rides, arts and crafts and shopping, to name just a few.
Everyone who lives and works at Huish House thrives on fun, smiles and laughter and without these we would not have been able to enjoy the successes we have had the privilege of celebrating.
Our staff team are extremely passionate about what they do. With the training we have received and the ongoing training we continue to receive we are able to give the right level and right amount of support to each individual living at Huish House.
Each person living here has a large bedroom, uniquely decorated to their own tastes and styled by their own ideas and individual preferences. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and five of the bedrooms are situated on the ground floor.
The gardens are an impressive size and give us a beautiful view of the Somerset countryside. We have a fully equipped sensory room where a lot of time is spent by everyone living here. We also have a sensory garden with a pond full of fish and a vegetable plot. All of the gardens are wheelchair accessible.
The house itself was built in 1883 and is a grand inviting building full of character and charm, boasting original features throughout. The rooms are large, spacious, tastefully decorated and maintained to a very high standard. We have two kitchens, a laundry room and two large dining rooms.
