ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - HIBERNIA
Hibernia is a registered residential home in Bursledon, on a private nothrough road. The location is ideal, offering views over fields, yet conveniently close to Junction 8 of the M27.
Hibernia has a very large garden, offering extensive outdoor space for the enjoyment and exploration of those that live there. Hibernia is also near the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Centre and the River Hamble.
Hibernia is a spacious home for five young people, currently all young men, who have moved to Hibernia following the completion of their education and are all in their twenties.
The staff team at Hibernia are well trained to work in a skilled way with people with complex autism. This home also actively uses Makaton and additional resources within the home such as objects of reference and picture exchange communication systems (PECS).
The people living at Hibernia enjoy very active days and access to a variety of local facilities with high support including swimming, cycling, sensory room, horse riding, art, trampolining, cinema, and there is also a focus on ongoing development of daily living skills.
Many of the individuals living at Hibernia require high levels of support to access the community successfully. This is reflected in the size of the staff team and the two vehicles provided to promote good levels of structured activities outside of the home.
Hibernia offers a motivating home environment where individual skills and interests are actively encouraged; music and playing instruments is a popular pass time between structured activities as are art projects and creative crafts.
