ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - GORSE HILL
At Gorse Hill we support ten individuals who have learning disabilities and complex needs and who may exhibit some behaviours that challenge.
We support the people who live at the service to live as full a life as possible and be involved with the local community. There are two Gateway clubs in the area and football and swimming sessions. People are supported to try out college courses, if they wish, such as living skills, cookery, animal care and computer skills.
We have an experienced staff team who have an understanding of each person’s needs. We hold regular meetings where everyone can express their opinions and have weekly meetings to choose menus and create shopping lists.
The service is in a residential area between Burnley and Padiham town centre. There is a bus stop outside with regular services to various towns in the area. We also have a service vehicle.
The service has six bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities and four self-contained flats which have been designed to help individuals gain more independence, possibly with a view to moving in to their own home. The service is wheelchair accessible and adaptations can be made to the service to meet individuals’ needs. The service has a number of communal areas and a large garden.
