ABOUT LOCAL CARE HOME - CHARD MANOR
At Chard Manor we provide care and support for ten young adults with a severe learning disability, autistic spectrum disorders and high care needs.
Chard Manor is set in a rural environment in Chard, Somerset, and has a peaceful ambience, while still being close to health and leisure facilities. Everyone is encouraged to develop and experience a wide range of activities with full support. Journeys to and from the individuals' family homes can also be supported.
The environment has been designed to respond to the needs of adults with a learning disability and behaviour that challenge, whilst providing an environment that is warm, empowering and homely. The service has ten bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. The spacious lounge, with open fireplace, is an ideal environment in which to relax or participate in many of the activities provided by the service, including music and art sessions. The kitchen is separated into two sections; one area is specifically designed to encourage everyone to help with the preparation of meals in a safe environment, supported by a member of staff. There is also a dining room and a sun room, with views over the gardens. Chard Manor has three gardens featuring a pond and a vegetable patch.
